These masks by Samnang Khvay were handcrafted from woven fishing vines and steel. The pair comprises a female and a male dragon mask, created for a choreographed performance. Questioning the tendency to treat the dragon as a universal symbol of East and Southeast Asia, the works explore its specific role in shaping Chinese and Cambodian cultural identities.
