Coconut, Ebony wood
This table by Jean Servais Somian was crafted from coconut wood blocks, cut in half and bound together with ebony elements. Drawing inspiration from the form of the African drum and the traditions of West African music, the work recalls cymbals, connected by black knots, symbols of dance, sharing and joy.
