Mother of pearl

These vessels by Inderjeet Sandhu and Kinkar Ghosh were handcrafted from fragments of mother-of-pearl. The shell pieces were individually selected and assembled through a process of structural sculpting, then ground and polished to reveal the material’s natural iridescence. Inspired by shells shaped by water, the works appear as though formed by the sea. Their shifting pink, silver and milky-white surfaces recall coral and tides.
