Exhibited in A ROOTED ASCENT
Charcoal, Wood
This armoire by Hamza Kadiri was crafted from charcoal in a puzzle-like composition characterised by irregular alignment and patinated bronze joins. The making process preserved the material’s distinctive surface qualities and hues. With voids interrupting the monolithic structure, the work creates a balance between permanence and change. The juxtaposition of charcoal and bronze symbolises the relationship between transformation and continuity.
