Stacked Pronghorn

This vessel by Richard Haining was constructed by stacking hundreds of individual blocks of Alaskan cedar wood salvaged from decommissioned New York City water towers. The surface was refined by hand and charred using the yakisugi technique. Reflecting the artist's practice of renewal, the piece alludes to the responsibility that comes with shaping the material world through craft.
