This wall plate by Caroline Slotte was created from an antique ceramic plate. Through a process of excavation and subtraction, the surface was altered to reveal sandblasted lines and tracings within the original decoration. Disrupting the visual coherence of a familiar decorative object, the work reinterprets a mass-produced pattern into a uniquely altered variation on the theme.
