This jewellery box is created by Joaquín Gilabert Lopez with the traditional Spanish technique of peine, in which strands of esparto are interlaced in alternating tonalities to form a patterned surface. The piece is made entirely from esparto, the fibrous and tough grass traditionally used in Spanish basketry, except for the cane handle and the wooden beads used to close the lid.
Homo Faber Finds is a new service aiming to inspire admirers of craft to connect and collaborate with exceptional artisans.
