Diptyque Monochrome

These two tall totemic pieces intrigue by their shape and shades of grey and black. The sculptures are the result of coil pottery techniques and raku firing. Lara De Sio uses a white semi-refractory clay with slip and score, and blending techniques. After a first firing at 1000°C to settle the shape, the surface is worked with a sanding sponge before raku firing at 950°C and several smoking steps.
