Visit of the workshop and school in Iquique

with Abel Mamani

See how the bandola is made and enjoy a live performance

Join luthier Abel Mamani as he invites you on a guided tour of his workshop to discover Aymara culture up close. During the visit, you will be able to appreciate how bandolas are made, an instrument that, as Abel himself puts it, "belongs to my Aymara culture." You will learn about the instrument and part of its creation process, followed by a live performance by Abel which will allow you to hear the instrument being played. The bandola is a cultural heritage passed down by his ancestors, much like the sikuris, lichiguayos, or pinguillos.
