Mentzendorff’s House in Riga Old Town houses a museum of artefacts from the 17th and 18th centuries with fully-restored period interior, as well as the Glass Art and Studies Centre, where the traditions of glass artisans continue today. The guided tour reflects on this building's history, highlighting its 17th-century resident Jurgen Helm, who had a glass workshop there. In addition to visiting the exhibition of this historical workshop and learning about ancient techniques, viewing the permanent collection of glass art, the visitor has a chance to witness a demonstration of glass painting in a historical style, copying a piece of Jurgen Helm’s stained glass.
