Ana and Sara Mateus, second generation owners of the António Studio, welcome visitors for a behind-the-scenes discovery of how their handmade leather bags and wallets are made. They start with the initial modelling phase, which is done on paper or with a disposable material. Different processes follow, such as thinning and cutting leather by hand or with the aid of a machine, before the assembling part where hammers, glue, scissors and sewing machines are used by their skilled artisans. The process is completed by the delicate painting of certain parts of the product. At the end of the tour everyone receives a handcrafted souvenir as a reminder of their time at the studio.
