Textile design talk near Lyon

with Françoise Hoffmann

Hear the story of textiles

Françoise Hoffman is not only a renowned textile designer and a star in her field, but a born storyteller who is passionate about her subject. This lecture dwells on the history of textile design, and in particular its historical cradle in China, a country she knows well and where she has worked. She delves into the various materials that are transformed into felt: silk, cotton, wool – especially yak – and tells visitors how she transcends this wide array of possibilities with her personal artistic sensibility. Demonstrations are held in her workshop, where some of her elaborate and conceptual pieces, at the intersection of fashion and art, are on display
