with Loreta Lichtarovičienė

A straw himmeli sun is made during the darkest advent period to be hung from a window and shine, while waiting for the sun to return. A time-consuming process, it is imperative to know the rules of himmeli making, otherwise the result will be unsuccessful. Having learned to make himmeli suns from her mother-in-law, artisan Loreta Lichtarovičienė shares her abundant knowledge in this workshop. You will learn about the symbolism of the sun, as well as get a chance to experience and pass down a living tradition. The himmeli suns are made from rye straw that grows outside Loreta's studio.
