Learn to braid

with Javier Medina

Braiding with natural spanish fibres

Braiding techniques using esparto, enea, and pleita grasses are the hallmark of master artisans in Extremadura. Javier S. Medina makes eco-friendly objects with the same dedication and care, with the goal of bringing back time-honoured crafts in danger of extinction. Working in both his original studio, Carpintería 28, and his new space Taller 34, he teaches craft enthusiasts how to create and complete their own pieces, entirely by hand. The course enables participants to perfect craft techniques and to learn how to apply several materials with needle and thread. It is a four day experience. Its final cost will depend on the materials and techniques used.
