Lampworking studio tour near Vicenza

with Pietro Viero

Get a unique insight into lampworking

The visit starts with a brief introduction to the technique of lampworking, which is a process of sculpting glass carried out by means of a burner, commonly called "torch", in which oxygen and methane gas (but alternatively also propane) are mixed to obtain a correct combustion used to melt semi-finished glass rods. Once in a molten state, the glass is transformed into objects by blowing and shaping with tools and skilled hand movements. Master glassmaker Pietro Viero then gives visitors a practical demonstration of the manufacturing process. In addition, with the help of the master artisan, participants are invited to blow a ball, which they will be able to keep as memento of their visit.
