Taster glassmaking class in Dunblane

Elin Isaksson welcomes you to this one and a half hour introductory experience in which you will discover the essential principles of glassmaking before crafting a hollow bauble yourself. You will be introduced to the hot glass making process, as well as the tools and equipment required to melt, reheat and cool the glass. You will also review colours to use and examples of patterns possible to achieve. Elin will present the safety procedures since you will be working with hot tools and molten glass at around 1150°C. This experience costs 65 GBP per person. Please note that once your piece is finished, it will require cooling in the kiln overnight before it can be taken away. If you are not able to come to collect your work, mailing options are possible.

This workshop is a great day out for students to be immersed in the skills and techniques of glassblowing. You will make three pieces – a paperweight, a bauble, and a drinking vessel. Elin Isaksson will be there to guide you one-to-one. The experience runs from 11:00 to around 16:00, and includes a light lunch. Elin offers this opportunity to learn more about the art of glassblowing and about her journey. This course costs 260 GBP per person. Please note that the glass pieces you make will require overnight cooling before they are ready to be taken away. The paperweight creations will also require polishing to make the base safe and flat. If you are not able to come back to collect your work, Elin will post them to you.
