Meet Korean flower designer Lee Hyunju in her atelier in beautiful Paju, close to the mountains of Gyeonggi region, and learn her alternative techniques to arrange flowers in an eco-friendly way. Basic classes are designed for absolute beginners who want to learn the basis of sustainable floristry. After explaining the foundations of flower design, Lee will teach her students to take care of cut flowers and to make simple compositions without using plastic foam, substituting it with chicken wires, flower frogs and other “alternative” techniques. Students will have a go at vase arrangements, hand-tied bouquets and table centrepieces.

Advanced classes are for people who have already practised floristry for more than one year, who can demonstrate accurate flower design techniques and design creativity. Students will conduct various experiments for 20 weeks to find their own style. Under Lee’s guidance, they will also learn to use different kinds of vases for their arrangements, to make bridal bouquets, flower crowns and large-scale installations for big events.
