Craft your own mirror using verre églomisé techniques in London

with Elizabeth Kent

Discover the art of gilding glass and mirrors

This is a one-day experience focusing on the technique of verre églomisé, an ancient craft that combines glass gilding and reverse glass painting to create unique effects of light, pattern and colour. During the 8-hour session, students will learn how to prepare the glass for gilding, use tools to apply gold and silver leaf to glass, and practise laying leaf over two pieces of A5 glass. Participants will be encouraged to use sign writing paints to add colour and pattern to their gilded glass. To finish, they will be taught how to seal and protect their gilded design. All materials will be provided, and by the end of the day students will have created two A5 glass artworks to take home in a box. Please note that this workshop costs 100 GBP and needs to be booked in advance by contacting Elizabeth.
