Ceramics immersion in the Azores

Self-taught, Renato is more than a ceramics sculptor. He is also a kiln builder, an author, a teacher and explorer. An expert in clay and ceramics from the Azores, he is happy to share his passion and knowledge through different workshops. In this short course he challenges the usual timing of the ceramic process by showing participants how to create and finish a piece in one day. After making small pots or sculptures in the morning, participants learn how to dry their works, build and fire a paper kiln. This full immersion allows them to experience the whole ceramic process and take home the piece they created as a reminder of the knowledge gained.
