Six generations in silk weaving

Zurich silk was once world famous, but today this chapter of Swiss history is practically closed. Weisbrod Zürrer AG was part of that history as a silk weaving mill for 187 years. The workshop was founded by Jakob Zürrer in 1825 and quickly became an important part of Zurich’s silk industry. Six generations of the Weisbrod Zürrer family preserved their love for silk and textile products, weaving silk fabrics in Hausen am Albis until 2012. After the production mill in Switzerland closed, the industrial site underwent major restructuring, and the Zürrer family's passion for textiles, that is so central to the business, was redirected to the making of silk accessories and offering a consultative practice.

Alongside a large fabric shop, Weisbrod also offers a small but carefully curated selection of accessories and a wide range of sewing courses. In addition, the company’s specialists provide professional advice to businesses, clubs and associations on corporate accessories and textile design, produced in collaboration with close partners in Italy. Among other products, Weisbrod's own brand offers ties, scarves, foulards, neckerchiefs, umbrellas and sleeping bags made from organic silk, produced in Italy or Switzerland.
