A legacy of thread and fibre
Carlos Vera Diepa's legacy is kept alive at Verdi with contemporary Colombian rug weaving. The workshop primarily uses fique fibre and metallic thread. Tomás and Cristina Vera, honouring a great admiration for their late father and enchanted by the potential of the fique fibre, founded the atelier in 2010. Verdi has established itself as a Colombian textile studio dedicated to weaving natural fibres to create contemporary textiles with traditional roots.
Verdi also innovates its own sophisticated version of Colombian mochila, a signature piece that gives recognition to traditional craft and needlework. Tomás' skillful vision has allowed Verdi to work on co-creations with luxury houses such as FENDI and Cartier, and allowed the atelier to be present at Milan’s Salone del Mobile.
