Verde Alfieri

Paper artist

Finding the peace of paper

  • Verde creates jewellery pieces and sculptures from paper
  • Paper has been a faithful companion throughout her personal and professional life
  • Her long experience as art director influences her works

Verde Alfieri designs and creates unique handmade jewellery and sculptures using paper. She loves modern art, and practised digital art in her search for a personal way to make her ideas tangible, until she discovered the world of contemporary jewellery. For more than 25 years before this, Verde worked as art director for graphic studios and well-known Italian publishing houses. "All my jewels tell of this past knowledge," she says. Her style and artworks are inspired by Italian cultural heritage and landscapes, and her research activity is focused on design, past and contemporary. "I have a keen interest in architecture and fashion, which I combine with the continuous search for innovative solutions that are aesthetically pleasing and functional to wear," explains Verde.

How did you learn your craft?
I learned everything by exploring techniques and materials on my own and experimenting all the time.
Why did you choose to work with paper?
I have always loved and studied arts, and artworks that arise from manual skills won me over. My first jewellery collections were born between 2013 and 2015, and my final breakthrough occurred in 2023.
How would you define your work?
It is the best way to express my creativity, visions and emotions. I love the never-ending opportunities to choose, combine and play with colours and shapes. Every piece is the result of a long journey of ideas and new combinations.
What does 'artfully made' mean to you?
It would be a piece with many imperfections that make it unique and convey emotions to the viewer.
