Timothy Richards Architectural Fine Art

Atelier
Scale model maker

Iconic landmarks in miniature

Timothy Richards’ name is well-known in the field of architectural scale models in plaster. To establish his atelier he chose the inspiring city of Bath, where he revived a sophisticated craft that originated in Paris in 1780 with the Fouquet brothers. In the UK, scale model making was upheld by Charles Henry Mabey in the 1800s. “Magazines began writing about me and I was invited to talk both in England and America,” says Timothy. “And that is when I realised that I was the only person to still make plaster models in the traditional way.”

Highly prized and collected across the globe, Timothy Richards’ work is defined by extreme attention to detail and impeccable taste, reflecting his attachment to classicism. The atelier's team of expert artisans has completed over 300 commissions for a wide range of clients, including the UK Government, international museums and galleries, architectural trusts, universities and private collectors. The atelier also carries out major restorations of heritage architectural models.
