After years of creating with wood, I have gradually come to understand that nothing in the world needs to be perfect. Wood has its own natural grains and flaws, just as life always has ups and downs and is never complete. In the same way that carving cannot be done in haste, so applies to self-cultivation: calm down, take your time, embrace imperfection, and patiently gather yourself. After being polished by time, even ordinary days will have their own flavour and unique radiance.

Local wood is especially important to my practice. Working with native wood means not only respecting the material’s natural qualities, but also remaining rooted in local culture. Every piece of wood carries traces of the region’s landscape and customs. By continuing to work with it, I give my pieces a sense of origin, continuity and historical depth. It allows my wood carvings to retain a genuine connection to place and a more powerful emotional resonance.

Rather than following established styles, I combine charred textures and natural mineral pigments with wood carving. Moving beyond traditional craftsmanship, I introduce a contemporary visual language that brings aged timber into dialogue with modern artistic expression. My aim is to preserve the inherent character of wood while creating greater depth and richness through texture and colour.
