In 2021, as the world stood still, Noun Design emerged out of necessity and desire. Behind the workshop, Dorothée Navarro, daughter of a master craftsman and heiress to a family atelier founded in 1971, decided to set up the workshop to uphold the livelihood of local artisans. The name Noun is the Arabic letter N, her initial, but also a quiet symbol of new beginnings. “Thanks to you, we are still standing,” one artisan told her. Noun Design is a workshop that is about more than just furniture: it is about dignity, beauty, and the art of living well.
Each piece in the Noun Design collection carries the elegance of craft and the warmth of Moroccan craftsmanship. Dorothée learnt this craft in the sawdust of her father's atelier, and her approach was shaped by the patience of the Maâlems – Morocco’s master artisans. Today, she leads a team of over 100 makers across woodwork, metalwork and upholstery, and collaborates with workshops from every corner of Morocco who provide specialised elements for the finished pieces.
