Jewellery as a tale of different cultures
- Marco and Davide combine materials in unexpected ways
- They work on a new identity for contemporary jewellery
- Venice Design Week and Venice Fashion Week showcase their creations
In 1994 goldsmith artisans Marco Venier and Davide Visentin opened Laberintho, their creative space and workshop together. In their works, metals and precious stones take on new identities thanks to an epoch and genre-defying aesthetic concept, ranging from the contemporary to the past from faraway lands. Davide and Marco each use a distinct creative approach. They meticulously research and choose stones, gems, blown glass elements and ancient seals, which are transformed to make jewellery pieces that communicate the journey, world, culture and soul of the wearer. Each piece is both a work of art and an everyday object, designed to accompany the wearer for a lifetime and complete their uniqueness.

INTERVIEW
Marco: We have been practising our craft since 1990. Davide deals mainly with restoration and has a technical approach, whereas mine is more of an artistic and design-oriented style. I love working on mosaics.
Davide: We are drawn to semi-precious stones because of the vast range of colours and the natural and varied nuances that make creations unique.
Marco: Very few people really understand how much time it takes to create bespoke jewellery. Artisanal work like ours requires dedication and many hours of work.
Davide: We both have Venetian origins. Ever since we opened our workshop, as young men, Venice has been inspiring and stimulating us with its artistic worldliness. It is a magnet that attracts trends and stimuli.
