Isac Coimbra and Diogo Ferreira have made a ceramic workshop out of their home in Lisbon. At GRAU° Cerâmica, they explore how ceramics relate to their surroundings, shaped by Isac and Diogo's backgrounds in architecture and visual culture. “Our training gives us a keen sense of spatial awareness, both in relation to the pieces themselves and the settings they inhabit,” they say. In some works, jute and rope add texture while visually extending the form—emphasising verticality or creating connections. Often described as 'modern tribal', the duo's aesthetic is rooted in childhood memories and family ties to Angola. “We grew up surrounded by traditional African crafts,” they explain. “Our interpretation, using clay, results in minimalist, geometric pieces.” They reuse all their clay, repurposing broken pieces into new collections to ensure nothing goes to waste.
