Jewellery inspired by island life

In 1971, while travelling around Europe, Enric Majoral visited the island of Formentera and felt an immediate attraction for this place frozen in the past. He met his wife on the island and decided to settle there. However, there wasn’t much work for a trained architect like him, so he started making simple things by hand. After a few months, he realised that if he developed this, he could make a living from it. “And so I started to express myself creatively, partly inspired by the primitive cultures that have passed through Formentera,” he says.

Today, he is the head of his family jewellery business Majoral, which he runs alongside his son Roc. From their workshop in Formentera, they design and handcraft beautiful pieces of jewellery inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and natural surroundings of their home island. They source their raw materials consciously, working with Fairmined. Enric seeks to imbue his pieces with his values, ensuring they transcend time. Their work is internationally recognised, with pieces featured in the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
