Metal casting

Old tradition of metal casting reborn

Klamra is all about expertly made brass items. Founded in 2014 in Lviv as a small workshop by designer and restaurateur Andriy Levytsky, the atelier was started to revive and promote the old Hutsul craft called “mosyazhnytstvo”, a traditional method of artistic processing of metals in western Ukraine. Klamra decided to modernizse the ancient approach and instead of earth moulded casting technique, the atelier focused on lost wax casting with handmade perfecting afterward. Their devotion to the craft and flawless quality of work led to a widespread recognition among the coloured metal enthusiasts and handmade aficionados in Ukraine and beyond.

The brass buckles are at the centre of everything here. The process of creation is thorough, one object may take more than 15 days to make, every item is special and can be personalised. Each buckle is two-sided and that’s part of the charm, there is always a story behind the object. While many of Klamra’s items have a connection to Ukraine, the atelier is keen on making other things too like brass coffee tempers, shoehorns and even beard combs.
