Beldi glass is a wholly Moroccan craft born in the 1940s, that is deeply rooted in everyday life to this day. In cafés across the country, the beldi glass has long been the vessel of choice for serving tea, nus-nus coffee or herbal infusions. Loved by locals and visitors alike, it has become an iconic keepsake of Morocco. In 2013, when the country’s last glass factory closed its doors in Casablanca, the Leymarie family stepped in to preserve this emblematic tradition. They revived the production of beldi glasses by creating a model workshop at the Beldi Country Club in Marrakech, bringing together former master glassmakers to pass on their skills.
Today, glasses, carafes, vases, candleholders and tableware are all mouth-blown using locally recycled glass. Each piece bears the distinctive mark of the hand: a vibrant transparency, delicate irregularities, and a subtle relief. Le Verre Beldi is an atelier that combines timeless beauty and authentic craftsmanship, with a view not only to protect a fragile heritage, but also to offer a new vision of sustainable, artisanal creation.
