The modern talisman maker
- Matilde is a jewellery maker, designer and stone setter
- She aims to impart healing through materials aligned to each wearer's needs
- Reused materials are central to her approach
Matilde Mozzanega makes jewellery pieces in which she blends beauty with well-being. She handcrafts customisable pieces that serve as personal talismans which she believes reflect the wearer's self-care and provide therapeutic benefits. Founded in 2018, Matilde's workshop explores the link between personal adornments and healing. A Central Saint Martins graduate and Sarabande Foundation Alumni, Matilde’s collections modernise the ancient tradition of healing talismans. Her designs feature interchangeable stones with poetic properties, prescribed as spiritual, creative and grounding, allowing wearers to select their stones based on mood or instinct. "The idea is to integrate jewellery into daily self-care," she explains. Each piece includes a leaflet with medicalised instructions addressing themes of mental health and well-being. Matilde runs group and individual workshops in jewellery making.

INTERVIEW
I grew up in a creative house, influenced by my mother, a fashion designer who was experienced in trend forecasting and fabric research. I have been making jewellery for as long as I can recall, fascinated by using colours and gems as healing tools for wellbeing.
Creativity supports mental health by reconnecting us to childlike playfulness, our true self. My work profoundly reflects this, emphasizing the healing power of daily rituals and self-love. My instinctive approach celebrates creativity's healing role.
Both my jewellery and packaging are handcrafted from recycled materials, with packaging made by hand at a small workshop near Milan. Respect for the environment is part of my ethos, with a focus on ethically-sourced, high-quality materials.
Jewellery is a form of self-care, both for the maker and for the wearer, creating a bond beyond monetary value. It evokes emotions, and serves as a personal talisman. In our fast-paced, digital age, jewellery grounds us and reminds us to prioritise wellness.
