  • Their work features in plays, cinema and fashion design
  • Precision is their stamp of excellence

Luca and Giuseppe Piroddu are twins. They were born and now live and work in Sennori, a little town near Sassari in Sardinia. Their activity officially began in 2014 when they decided to turn their passion into their profession. Their main teachers were their grandmother and their father from whom they learnt embroidery techniques and secrets. Their special handcrafted clothing and accessories tell the history and the stories of Sardinian traditions. Luca and Giuseppe studied Sardinian history and today bring local traditions back to life by carefully choosing fabrics, patterns and colours. They combine them with new inspirations. Many fashion designers turn to them to enrich their creations. Italian film director Matteo Fresi chose to work with the brothers to make one of his film's sets and costumes in Sardinia.

What is special about Sardinian clothes?
Luca: A Sardinian dress is always a sartorial masterpiece, not least because of its extraordinary complexity. Obviously, there are many differences between items for women and men, but there are also many differences between models from different areas of the island.
How would you define your craft?
Giuseppe: In one world: love. It means having a special commitment that involves meticulous studies, the choice of fabrics and other materials, the art of tailoring, embroidery and sewing.
Who are your customers?
Luca: Our works are appreciated by different kinds of people, from those who are passionate about Sardinian history and traditions, to cinema and theatre costume designers, fashion designers, managers of cultural associations.
What is it about your creations that your customers appreciate most?
Giuseppe: Precision and detailing – our ability to choose, cut, sew and embroider precious fabrics with sensitivity and skill. It is a great recognition for those who work with passion.
