Founded in 1987 by master mosaicist William Bertoia, Friul Mosaic creates bespoke mosaics that harmoniously blend tradition and innovation, expertise and creativity. The company has grown over the decades, developing outstanding projects in every corner of the world. Technology has contributed to advance the design phase, but Friul Mosaic has never lost its artisanal heart. The composition of the mosaics and their installation always rely on the manual skills and artistic sensitivity of the atelier’s artisans, all of whom are graduates of the historic Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, in the nearby town of Spilimbergo.
“Every project we embrace is engaging,” says Barbara Bertoia. “But what we really enjoy is the challenge. Sometimes we have a tight deadline and the subjects are very special and require incredible technical skill. At other times we find a designer or architect who wants to use a time-honoured technique to create something much more contemporary. In every case, it is a team effort that always gives us great satisfaction.”
