Diversifying ceramic skills

In 2010 Ninka Sajaia and Ketevan Chichveishvili, graduates of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, established a workshop called Ceramic Room to showcase their diverse artistic backgrounds in the art of ceramics. The duo work on a wide variety of ceramic objects including interior accessories, tableware, exterior décor, lamps, vases and decorative tiles. Work from this studio can be easily distinguished for its signature style - a mixture of bright colours and specific patterns, which reflect the diversity and contrast of these artists’ characters.

The Ceramic Room’s collections are inspired by simple details of everyday life, changing feelings and the hillside workshop’s pleasant environment at the base of the Mount St. David, in the historic part of Old Tbilisi. The studio artists work with various ceramic techniques such as wheel throwing, hand building, casting, painting and glazing. In 2018 the Ceramic Room became especially renowned for their ceramic street-signs and ceramic tiles adorning various streets and staircases in the historic districts of Tbilisi.
