A journey of collaborative exchange

Camille Bertrand is a passionate embroiderer and textile designer who studied and trained in France. She started a professional career in China, before moving to Morocco where she discovered a deep and meaningful connection to craft. In 2019, she moved to settle in Marrakesh and established her embroidery studio, Atelier Brodeuse Voyageuse. Camille believes in building a personal connection with her fellow makers and in recognising all the artisans in the process towards a finished product. Cautiously sourcing her materials, trekking the routes to their origins and meticulously picking them by hand, Camille also researches every element of a project. She values quality above all.

Using wool, cotton and silk along with natural plant-based dyes, diversity of techniques is the cornerstone of her production. In her workshop, Camille teams up with a master artisan, and together they experiment with traditional rozlaby embroidery. Atelier Brodeuse Voyageuse also collaborates with women cooperatives specialised in traditional tapestry and rug weaving in Morocco. The making process is an ongoing mutual learning and exploration adventure between Camille and her network of artisans.
