Unique rings, from start to finish

  • Blaise makes one-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery on commission
  • His life-long fascination with gemstones drives his inspiration
  • He offers special workshops for couples to make their own wedding rings

As far as he can remember, Blaise Raccaud has always been interested in crafts and working with his hands. Gemstones are what specifically gemstones caught all his attention. Working from his workshop in the heart of the old town of Lausanne, Blaise specialises in making unique jewellery on commission. He offers workshops for couples who wish to create their own wedding rings, and rejoices in sharing these moments with them. "Being able to share in their love story, but also open up my art and the making process to my clients are meaningful experiences to me," says Blaise. His passion for gemstones means that he devotes a lot of time to finding the right materials, colours and shapes to design and craft one-of-a-kind pieces. "At the heart of my work, I value the ethical sourcing of my materials," he says.

What brought you to jewellery making?
Precious stones have attracted me since I was a child, and gemology in particular. I have been interested in gems and crafts all my life.
What is your approach to creating your pieces?
They are exclusively commissions, always linked to the client's inspirations and stories. We look for symbols, things that the person appreciates. When working on a creation for a couple, I listen to their story and try to incorporate that into the piece.
Where do you stand on choosing your materials?
Ethical work is important to me and to my clients alike. I track the provenance of all the stones and issue certificates for stones and materials used in my creations.
How do you share the making process with your clients?
We work together, starting with bars of gold, and finishing with fully crafted pieces of jewellery. People are always surprised at how dirty their hands get during the process! I take the time to explain everything to give visibility on jewellery making.
