Antonin Lamoot

Decorative painter

Painting as a quest for freedom

  • Antonin’s work reflects his connection with nature
  • Extreme sports and travels are his great source of inspiration
  • He has collaborated with major luxury houses

A decorative painter and artist, Antonin Lamoot creates works that capture the essence of nature, translating the freedom and energy of life into frescoes, decors and paintings. His desire to create emerged very early on, and was initially expressed through graffiti, in which he discovered the pleasure of transforming a space. This passion for materials and colours evolved into a deeper quest, leading him to his first experiences in traditional painting and the restoration of frescoes in historical buildings. Armed with this knowledge, Antonin only then specialised in decorative painting alongside a master craftsman in Paris. Today, in his studio, he experiments and develops unique decors, frescoes and paintings for private clients such as architects and luxury houses.

What first influenced you towards your craft?
I was born in the Maison Radieuse in Rezé, a building designed by Le Corbusier, and so I grew up in an environment deeply influenced by modernist architecture. This immersion awakened my sensitivity to space and materials very early on. Graffiti was my first exploration of freedom of expression in the public space.
Why did you then choose painting as your career?
My craft is above all a reflection of my philosophy of life: a constant quest for freedom, exploration and movement. I chose this path because it allows me to express my connection with the natural elements of sky, water and earth, while integrating these inspirations into unique works.
Was there a formative experience along the way?
The first significant work I did was restoring frescoes in historical monuments. This allowed me to discover the subtleties of natural materials and to develop an in-depth understanding of traditional techniques. Restoring small chapels across France was a pivotal experience that nurtured my respect for heritage and introduced me to the richness of classical art.
Drawing on your experience today, how would you describe a “well finished” painting?
A well-finished work is one that conveys depth, movement and a unique light. It is a subtle balance between technical mastery and artistic sensitivity.
