Step into enchantment

  • Anne opened her studio in 2019
  • The first object she created was a perfume cap for Guerlain
  • Her technique requires full-body engagement

Anne Lopez, a multidisciplinary artist, received her training at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the École d'Art Mural in Versailles. Early on in her career, she felt compelled to integrate her drawing skills with the art of moulding, forging her unique style. Following her studies, she further developed her craft at the AC MATIÈRE workshop, immersing herself in techniques such as gilding and fresco work, before establishing her own studio in 2019. Anne infuses her creations with a sense of fluidity and movement, that give a sense of dynamic energy. With meticulous care, she carves gold, silver, or platinum leaf, to express the wind's swirling motions in her designs, while sculpting stucco on the same pieces to add strength and power. Anne's artworks grace collections and hotels globally, and she has collaborated with renowned brands such as Guerlain and DS AUTOMOBILES.

Can you tell us about an exciting moment in your career?
When I won the DS AUTOMOBILES AND CRAFTSMANSHIP call for projects and had to create several bas-reliefs for the interior of a luxury car. It combined everything I seek as an artist. Always pushing the boundaries of my creativity by appearing where it is least expected.
How does your approach to movement influence your artistic process?
My technique requires a complete physical involvement. The concept of dance is always present in my work. An assured, fluid gesture coupled with breathing is crucial in my creations. Having practised classical dance until the age of 20 has instilled in me a way of moving and breathing that has never left me.
Do you master specific techniques?
I have created a method that entails sculpting stucco while it is still wet, integrating modelling and engraving simultaneously into my designs.
How do you mix tradition and innovation to define your unique artistic approach?
I learned ancestral techniques and adapted them to suit my own style. Without these strong traditional foundations, I would not have the same creative freedom. Innovation stems from the diversity of scales in my creations, and I explore new mediums and applications. Introducing fresh forms to materials serves as a true driving force in my practice.
