Jaipur Rugs began in 1978 with just two looms and has since grown into India’s largest network of artisans. Founded by social entrepreneur Nand Kishore Chaudhary, the atelier works with 45,000 craftspeople, 90% of whom are women, weaving across 7,000 looms. To support these remote communities, the Jaipur Rugs Foundation was established in 2004 to help artisans sustain their livelihoods through weaving. The manufacturer has celebrated the artistry behind its carpets at multiple editions of Homo Faber in Venice.

Artisans at Jaipur Rugs draw on 16th-century Persian techniques adapted with local Indian traditions to create contemporary carpets. Weavers use traditional Persian hand knotting methods alongside gultarash, a technique that originally highlights motifs, to create unique textural effects. The creation process involves carefully selecting wool and hand dyeing yarn in over 3,000 eco-friendly colours. Through their Manchaha collection, Jaipur Rugs prioritises a zero-waste approach, transforming leftover hand spun yarn batches into uniquely designed carpets.
