Discover a rare craft

Lison de Caunes offers a weekend initiation in the craft of straw marquetry. In this private course participants first learn how to open and flatten the piece of straw – a seemingly simple gesture that is difficult to master but vital for the success of the piece. The workshop teaches several basic straw marquetry patterns – straight or 'sun' – and for those with some experience, inlay techniques. The course takes place on both Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 4pm, with a lunch break. Courses fill up quickly, so make your reservation ahead of time. Materials are provided.
