Reviving the art of parchment carving

06/09/2026 | 09/09/2026Exhibited in AN ATELIER ALIVE

French artist Matéo Crémades specialises in parchment carving, a rare craft historically used to create intricate rosettes for musical instruments. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Matéo will carve and layer delicate sheets of goatskin parchment to create an intricate rosette. Visitors will see firsthand how precise cutting transforms the material into elaborate patterns, revealing an almost forgotten technique that the artist brings beyond its historical context into contemporary creation.
