Xiaozhe Huang’s journey from the corporate world to a jewellery and glassmaking practice is an inspiring story of transformation and liberation. After a decade-long career in marketing management in the fashion industry, she left the corporate world to pursue craft. In Venice, Xiaozhe developed a passion for working with glass. “The craft is a symbol of freedom for authentic creative expression, independent of profession, nation, language and ideology,” she says. She experiments with glass, using the traditional lampworking technique to create mixed media jewellery with a contemporary and personal visual language. Her work has been exhibited at prestigious international art events such as Art Basel Social Club, Collect London, the International Biennale of Glass, Venice Glass Week, New York Jewellery Week and Munich Jewellery Week.
