The pieces presented at Homo Faber 2026 exemplify Syyoung's approach to shaping his pieces aesthetically through fire. In the first, silver-blue dots spread out like a galaxy in the night sky. Using high temperature fire freely distorts the form of the moon jar and creates its irregular shape. The second piece is a rounded jar with only a faint neck and heel to create a form of modern simplicity. The colour is created by changing the proportions and distributions of a variety of iron oxides within the glaze, allowing structural colours to surface through the firing process.
