• Abdelnasser's paper creations are made to move and bend like fruit itself

Abdelnasser Ibrahim creates hyper-realistic flowers and fruits, working with crepe paper and painted in watercolour. With no formal training in art and a background in communication engineering, he stumbled onto the craft by chance. Abdelnasser learned paper sculpting techniques and colour theory over two years, self-taught through online tutorials and experimentation. In 2023, he chose to turn his focus exclusively to fruit, choosing Egypt's abundant tangerines as his subject and inspiration. "I keep almost everything I make. The pieces I do part with, often gifts, push me to recreate the work and improve its structure," he says. Abdelnasser mixes watercolour, oil pastel and coconut oil with glue to find new textures, applying an engineer's logic to sculptures built to move, bend and open.
