My main sources of inspiration are Byzantine and Venetian mosaics, as well as sacred paintings and figurative art from different eras. I am interested in observing how artists of the past managed to convey spirituality and intensity through light, colour and the simplicity of form. I also find inspiration in nature, architecture and lighting in the places I visit.

My work always stems from a deep respect for the mosaic craft. I primarily use Venetian enamels and ancient techniques in an attempt to reinterpret tradition. I simplify forms, study new rhythms and seek a balance between material, light and composition. Innovation does not mean breaking with the past, but engaging with it.

I love the direct relationship with the material. Cutting the tesserae, choosing the colours and slowly composing the image is a very tangible and deeply creative process. Each small tile reflects light differently and contributes to the life of the mosaic. I am fascinated by the fact that, through patient manual labour, one can build something destined to last for many years.
