Remember us at our best

This sculpture by Troy Emery was created by covering an animal form with colourful craft materials, such as fringing, pom-poms, tassels, rope and tinsel. The abundance of textiles forms a dense pelt that obscures the figure beneath. Exploring animals as decorative objects, the piece blurs the boundaries between traditional sculpture and handicraft. It reflects on the value placed on animal fur, while engaging with the discussion around fast fashion and mass-produced crafting materials.
