These brooches by Van Cleef & Arpels were handcrafted in platinum and set with brilliant or baguette-cut diamonds. The intricate openwork and two-dimensional compositions render the birds’ anatomy and movement with remarkable precision. Characteristic of the Maison’s creations of the 1920s, the pieces depict both species native to France and birds from more distant horizons in graceful flight.
