Exhibited in AN INFINITE BIRDSONG
Timber, Wood
This panel was designed by ChippiWara and crafted by Suresh Mohan using the traditional Mysore wood inlay technique. Naturally coloured timber veneers were cut with a fine blade and fitted onto a flat substrate, like a jigsaw puzzle, allowing the grain of the wood to create tone and depth. Recalling childhood summers in the artist’s grandmother’s garden, the work depicts a sunbird drinking from hibiscus at dawn.
