Bamboo fibre
This sculpture by Lihuai Qian was woven in a traditional hexagonal bamboo pattern without the use of moulds. The weaving mimics both the texture and the contours of Taihu stone, a kind of limestone which features pores and holes due to long-term water erosion. Incarnating the spirit of a tiger into its form, the piece evokes a sense of reverence for the natural world.
