Straw, Mirror, Brass, Marble, Oak wood
This mirror by Jonathän Jouan was crafted with dyed rye straw scales, each fixed with brass nails over a hand-carved oak core. The structure was pierced by a bent solid brass rod and mounted on a broken marble base. Set within an imaginary world dominated by micro-organisms, the piece symbolises humanity’s adaptation within an ecosystem it no longer controls.
